The Washington Post со ссылкой на Рут Моттрам из Датского метеорологического института приводит другие цифры: ледяной щит Гренландии отправил в Атлантический океан за прошлый месяц 197 миллиардов тонн воды. Этого количества достаточно, чтобы увеличить уровень Мирового океана на полмиллиметра. И этим летом именно Гренландия обеспечивает основной вклад в этот процесс.
Кроме того, аномальные погодные условия привели к природным пожарам на западе острова.
